I'm a relative novice with sewing, both bras and other garments; I have a lot of background knowledge about techniques but very little practice. I found this pattern while I was searching for sustainable closure options and was dissatisfied by the limited availability of sustainable pre-made options. It took me a little while of staring at the instructions and following along with a piece of paper to understand them, but now that I do the process is simple and I even learned a trick from the instructions to make future sewing projects easier. I love that this has given me so much flexibility in terms of fiber content, color, width, number of hooks, rows of eyes, etc. The only thing I plan on changing going forward is making the part where you attach the hook to the bra longer. It might be a matter of requiring practice to make my handiwork neater, or I may be be securing my hooks too far inside, but at the moment between the internal seam allowance and the hook itself, the pocket is too shallow to easily attach the bra. All in all I am very pleased, and would purchase from Orange Lingerie again. Thank you!
I didn't have any 2-hook fasteners but did have a couple of old bras to take apart, so I decided to give this pattern a try. I found the instructions less than entirely clear, but did figure it out. However, I ended up having to redo the hook side; the pocket for the bra band was too shallow and I ended up reworking the pattern into a flappy-style rather than pocket-style fastener for that side. The seam allowances on the inside got in the way on both sides. I also didn't do a stellar job sewing in the hooks and eyes; I'm not the best at hand sewing, and there wasn't a lot of guidance on how best to accomplish the task. With a bit of practice, I suspect my future fasteners will be better; as a practice run, this one ended up working ok.
I could not figure out how to make one. I am too a too inexperienced at sewing or my reading skills are failing me:-)
This is my first bra pattern, and I have to say it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be to sew.
Easy to put together. It came out adorable and very comfortable. Sizing was spot on for me.
This pattern was easy to use and Im really glad I went for it and tried to make my own hook and eye closures. Using matching fabric looks great with the end result.
