Fenway Bra PDF Sewing Pattern

Size Guide
Sizing Information

Bras

I always recommend making a muslin first to test the fit of the bra. This applies not only to new patterns but also to any new fabric you decide to use.

How to make muslins (a.k.a. toiles), a fast way and a more thorough way.

If you do not have a ready-to-wear size or at a loss for what size to start with, I offer the below sizing guideline for my bra sewing patterns.

SIZING GUIDELINES

Difference  Cup size
1" A
2" B
3" C
4" D
5" DD or E
6" DDD or F
7" G
8" H
9" I
10" J
  • When taking measurements, be sure to stand up straight and exhale fully.
  • Measure body circumference directly under the bust with the tape measure parallel to floor. Round the measurement to the nearest inch, rounding down if you are at the ½” mark. If your measurement is an even number, add 4″, and if it is an odd number, add 5″. This is the band size.
  • Measure body circumference at the fullest part of the bust while wearing a bra that is supportive yet out of a relatively thin fabric. Again, keep the tape measure parallel to the floor.
  • Derive cup size by subtracting the band size from the full bust measurement. Consult the chart below to find cup size. For example, if the full bust is 36″ and the band size is 34″, the difference is 2″. Based on the cup size chart below, this difference corresponds to a B cup. If you are in between sizes, use the larger size.

Underwear

Underwear patterns are based on a waist and hip measurement.

Details

As you may guess from the name, this style was inspired by baseball! The combination of a curvy lower cup paired with a triangle upper cup and fold over elastic trim just seems to say “baseball” to me! I love it when an inspiration becomes a reality and in this case, a really beautiful bra.

The Fenway is a supportive underwire bra featuring:

  • A frameless design (also known as a partial band style);
  • A two-piece lower cup for round shaping;
  • Fold-over elastic trim to finish the cups and upper edges of the bra; and
  • A design that looks fantastic with a contrast sheer upper cup.

Notable Pattern Features:

  • An instantly downloadable PDF pattern.
  • Almost no taping required! Most pattern pieces fit entirely inside the printable space of US Letter or A4 size paper. For printing ease, each size is grouped together.
  • All pattern pieces are separate, not nested, and clearly show the seam allowance and/or trim allowance as applicable. This allows for construction clarity and simplifies any pattern alterations.
  • The instructions are professionally illustrated, making the seemingly complex steps of bra construction very clear and easy to understand.
  • This pattern was drafted and graded by professionals who send their output directly into production so you can be extra confident that you have a great starting point for your garment.

Size Range:

This bra will only be available in A to DD cup sizes for band sizes 30 to 40.

Printing Note:

  • Find your size to select which pages to print. The complete document is over 75 pages.

Great bra, once you get the size right

I am a 32D in every bra, be it off the shelf, or Pinup Girls patterns. I tried to make this in a 32D and it was so tiny! After many attempts, I discovered that the 36D was comparable to a 32D in other patterns. I had to raise the bridge a little higher (for my fit), and it was perfect!! I love this pattern and will be making loads of other bras from it. Definitely do a test run for sizing before unleashing your favourite fabrics, but once you find the right size, the shape is gorgeous!

I would be giving the pattern a 5, but the sizing is far, FAR off.

Love it!

I truly love this bra pattern and plan on making it again soon. I wish there were more kits available for this pattern as I found that so easy! Either way, I love the pattern and will do it again!
